MONTALEGRE HEALTHCARE CENTER | MONTALEGRE
Target
Construction of a Family Health Unit in the parish of Vilar de Andorinho, in a polygonal terrain with approx. 3400 m², locatedat Rua Escultor Alves Sousa, Vilar de Andorinho, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
Building
The building is developed on two floors.
At level 0, corresponding to public services, it follows an irregular shape taking advantage of an interior courtyard that captures light and serves different spaces, at level 1, corresponding to the technical and exclusive areas of the employees, follows a form in L and creates superior access to the building.
Predominantly white, the building makes contact with the ground through a black base that, when it find the main entrance, grows and surrounds all access. In this way, the main entrance appears as a "Subtraction" that receives and protects the users of the Health Unit.
We were pleased with the idea of exploring the Yin-yang concept, projecting the building between a white, stable and closed surface, opposite a black element that protects it and at the same time subtracts it creating windows, doors, main access and in this way, open it to the surroundings.
