MACEDA SPORTS BUILDING | OVAR
Target
The project launched by the Municipality of Ovar aimed at building appropriate facilities for learning volleyball, basketball, roller hockey and indoor soccer.
Building | Implantation
The land available is part of a larger urban area which, due to its ease of access and proximity to important roads, was reserved, within the scope of the Municipal Master Plan, for the construction of facilities of municipal interest. The projected building is located on the west side of the land, next to the crossing of the roads that serve it, forming with them a small paved pedestrian square. The remaining area of land (to the north and east) was reserved for future construction of outdoor playgrounds. At the east/south top, a parking lot was installed for school buses and light vehicles.
Building | Functional organization - volumetry
The basic program of the sports pavilion is guided by the Technical Sheets prepared by the Instituto do Desporto de Portugal. It includes 5 functional groups integrating them into three volumes. The main one, with a total height of 9.24 m, houses the building's core space (a 44x25 m playing area) and a fixed bench sized for around 300 seated spectators. The secondary ones, of lower height, include the spaces of the entrance hall, the reception/administration block, the public restrooms, the changing rooms and restrooms for practitioners and monitors, the first aid room, the cafeteria, the storage of material sport and the necessary technical areas.
